Strike Out Queen by Brianna Hair

Sydney Spencer has played softball most of her life, and her dream is to break Bay City Central’s record for the most strikeouts in a game.

Spencer started playing softball at the age of six, and on May 16, 2017 vs Midland Dow, she broke the school record. It was an emotional but exciting moment for Spencer. The crowd stood up and cheered her success. Spencer also broke the season career record and season win record at BCC.

Spencer hopes to continue her career and play college softball, but if she doesn’t, she won’t be upset. She hopes to study Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy at Grand Valley State University after graduation.

Spencer has two siblings, an older sister Sara that lives in Los Angeles, and a brother Neal that is actually dating Mr. Gorski daughter.

Sydney loves the vibe that Central brings to the games, and love the sport teams. Football season is her favorite time of the year. She loves supporting her school team.

Spencer said “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard,’’ and she goes by that daily. The thing she will miss the most about high school softball is the Destin, Florida trips and memories the team makes throughout the season. Advice she would like to give the incoming freshmen is “Push yourself and make the most out of it because time flies by and it's one of the best experiences.”

Spencer is currently playing her second year with the Indiana Dream Team, and she loves it. Spencer’s goal this year you ask? She wants to be the best she can be and go out there and have fun.
