On September 22nd, Bay City Central’s Varsity Tennis team had the annual Bay County Tennis Tournament where Bay City Central, Garber, Western, and John Glenn had the chance to get on the Championship Trophy for Bay county.
The cold and humid morning of the Midland Tennis Center made it rough for some of Central’s Tennis players. Even through the weather, teams such as Josh Lijewski and Parker Sochacki were able to pull out wins for the tennis team. Lijewski said” I couldn’t feel my fingers but we still pulled through for the team.”
The following rounds started to thin out the best out the best in Bay County. The winners of most divisions were the reigning champions Garber, which swept most of the pools except for singles 4 and doubles 2. Central may not have won any pools but it was still a fantastic learning experience for the tennis team, especially being the first year at the tournament for most of the players.
The tennis season is coming to a close soon, so make sure you come out to as many matches as you can while the tennis team is still fighting. With Valleys coming up, many seniors will have to hang up their rackets for good.
