This past weekend, the Bay City Central Varsity Tennis Team four doubles team place 2nd in their bracket. Seniors, Parker Sochacki and Joshua Lijewski made an amazing breakthrough in their tennis careers at the Bullock Creek Invitational this past Friday.
Sochacki and Lijewski first faced Owasso, where they won their first set 6-1. They then got out matched in their second set, scoring 4-6. Then, they made an amazing comeback to win the match in a 10 point tiebreaker, scoring a surprising 10-2.
In their second match, Sochacki and Lijewski swept Bullock Creek’s four doubles team with a first set of 6-1 and a second set of 6-0. They then moved on the the finals in the doubles four bracket to face off against Bay City Western in the match for first place.
Sochacki and Lijewski put up a good fight in the first set, but they ended up losing the set 3-6. In the second set, Bay City Central had to forfeit while they were ahead 4-3 as it was the BCC Marching Bands’ Senior Night that Sochacki had to attend, where the made it just in time.
When asked how he felt about having to forfeit, Lijewski stated “I’m upset, especially because they also had said that they would have to leave early as well. But I understand and am glad that Parker was able to make his senior band festivities in time.”
