On October 3rd, Bay City Central held the girls Powder Puff Game at Elmer Engel Stadium. The teams consisted of class of 2020 (juniors) who played against the class of 2019 (seniors). The class of 2019 had a head start, winning the 2017 game as juniors. The teams were coached by varsity football players from their class. Both teams prepared for the game by having multiple practices, where they learned plays and skills to help them win.
Besides the football players, junior and senior boys practiced with the cheerleaders and learned the typical cheers and chants. During the game, they did stunts and cheers to support their team.
The game of flag football started off with the seniors leading for awhile. The juniors slowly crept up and showed they were there to play. Senior MVP Megan Groulx said “I never doubted the class of 2019, I knew we came into the game to win,” and that’s exactly what the seniors did. The final score of the game was 30-16.
After the game, the teams, coaches, and other students came together to celebrate by having a bonfire. Everyone at the bonfire was having fun and taking pictures with one another. The Powder Puff game, over all, was a good time and lifted the spirits of the school. Better luck next year class of 2020.
