BCC vs BCW by Ashlyn Robertson

On Friday night, The Bay City Central boys Varsity Basketball team faced their rival. The game was held at Western’s gym, but plenty of the Central fans made the drive to support the boys and watch the game. The Central student section had a purple and gold out for their theme.

Both teams came to play on Friday. In the second period Central had a small lead over Western, the score being 22-20 toward the beginning of the quarter. By the end of the third period Central was in the lead with a score of 34-29.

The fourth period was a real nail-biter. The Warriors were in the lead, with five minutes remaining. The score was 45-40, but that ended quickly when the Wolves brought the heat making it a tied game.

There was no time left on the clock and the score was 49-49, leading the game into overtime. With three minutes left in overtime, the game was tied again 51-51. Central decided to step it up and won the game 62-55 after what seemed like the longest, most tense period of overtime ever. Central senior Elias Ramirez gave up 25 points towards the win, and BCC junior Hayden Jatczak scored 13.
